Last week, Moms Clean Air Force had an action-packed week.
Monday, January 14: Moms Arrive in D.C.
On Monday, January 14, we welcomed families to Washington, D.C. for a training in preparation of meeting with their members of Congress to make it clear that moms–and many others across the country!–oppose the nomination of Andrew Wheeler to head the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and so should our Senators.
Tuesday, January 15: Moms are a Force to be Reckoned with on Capitol Hill
Tuesday morning, Congressman Donald McEachin (VA-04) hosted a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. focused on environmental justice. Moms Clean Air Force was proud to have our public health policy director, Molly Rauch included among an inspiring group of speakers! Click here to watch a livestream of the press conference.
Moms (and kids!) in red shirts dominated the halls of Congress all day Tuesday, meeting with our Senators and Representatives to stress the importance of protecting our children’s health and the need to oppose the nomination of Andrew Wheeler to head EPA.
Tuesday evening, Moms Clean Air Force and Ecomadres joined our friends at GreenLatinos and other environmental and conservation allies to honor Representative Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) the newest chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee.
Wednesday, January 16: Moms are Watching Andrew Wheeler at his Confirmation Hearing
On Wednesday, January 16, Moms Clean Air Force members (including kids!) showed up in full force to attend the nomination hearing of ex-coal lobbyist, Andrew Wheeler to head EPA. His actions at EPA so far show that he is unfit to lead EPA and protect our kids’ health. His performance at the hearing made that even clearer. Click here to watch a livestream of the hearing.
Moms spoke to the media about our concerns over Andrew Wheeler’s nomination.
