When a data center was proposed near Jayne Black’s (pictured) home earlier this month, she jumped into action. As Moms’ Wisconsin field organizer, Jayne was immediately worried about how pollution from the facility could jeopardize her community’s health.
In her personal capacity, Jayne started the Stop the Greenleaf Data Center Facebook group on January 7, which quickly gained over 3,000 members. Less than a week later, the company announced that it was withdrawing its plan to build in the Village of Greenleaf. Jayne tells Spectrum 1 News that this is an example of how “community voice matters.”
But the work isn’t done. As fossil fuel-powered data centers multiply across the country, so does hazardous pollution—and the need for policies that protect families.
