This summer, the Supreme Court eliminated Americans’ long-established right to hold pesticide companies accountable for failing to warn people that their products may cause cancer or other diseases.
Moms are outraged—and so are members of Congress. Thankfully, a bipartisan group of lawmakers has introduced a bill, the Americans vs. Poisonous Pesticides Act, that would reverse this decision. It’s time to take action to push this bill through.

Hundreds of thousands of farmers, groundskeepers, landscapers, and home gardeners exposed to glyphosate and other pesticides made with petrochemicals are sick with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Our own kids, now back at school, can be exposed to harmful pesticides on sports fields, playgrounds, and schoolyards. Children are uniquely vulnerable to these toxic chemicals because their bodies are still developing.
Making it all worse is that EPA almost never requires a cancer warning on the labels of carcinogenic pesticides. Not only do we not know when a product could cause cancer, but now the Supreme Court has ruled that pesticide makers cannot be held accountable for not telling us.
The Americans vs. Poisonous Pesticides Act amends federal pesticide law to allow people to sue pesticide companies for failing to warn us of the potential for cancer and other illnesses from exposure to their products.
This right to sue is vital in a democracy—not just to hold pesticide companies accountable for the harms they cause, but because when victims sue and win, shareholders start to listen.
