Earlier this month, the Pennsylvania legislature, as part of a budget deal negotiated with Governor Josh Shapiro, voted to remove the state from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). The RGGI program is the single most effective tool for cleaning up the air Pennsylvania families breathe while also tackling global warming and improving energy affordability. Losing it is a blow to families across the state.
Senior National Field Director Patrice Tomcik (pictured) is widely quoted condemning Governor Shapiro for “sacrificing progress on climate and air pollution based on politics that prioritizes industry over our children’s health” in Inside Climate News, E&E News, and PA Environment Digest articles. The Inside Climate News piece also ran in News From the States, Pennsylvania Capital-Star, and Philly Voice.
