The Scientista podcast brought Moms Co-Founder and Director Dominique Browning on their show to discuss what first drew her into the climate movement and how Moms provides a powerful platform for outreach.
After being diagnosed at age 50 with kidney cancer attributable to environmental exposures, Dominique became suddenly aware that the world around her was full of toxic, carcinogenic chemicals. Concerns for her family’s health led her to start Moms Clean Air Force, which now has over 1.6 million members working to protect their families by ensuring climate and pollution safeguards are as strong as possible.
Over the past year, the Trump administration and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin have started trying to dismantle a series of climate protections, including limits on mercury, soot, methane, and tailpipe pollution. Dominique explains in her interview with Scientista that the administration is choosing to protect the industry instead of people, giving free passes to polluters while endangering human health and the environment.
“We need to express our anger that we are being gaslighted. This administration is saying, ‘We care about making America healthy again,’” Dominique says, “but they don’t care. They’re lying to us. They’re using our passion and our interest against us.”
That’s why Moms Clean Air Force sent a letter to Congress last month asking that they hold Zeldin accountable for corrupting the mission of EPA, with signatures from over 200 other organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.
