This weekend, the Southeast was struck by one of the deadliest hurricanes ever to hit the U.S. mainland. Flooding from Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc in communities from my own town on Florida’s Gulf Coast to Asheville, North Carolina, and beyond.
This weekend’s devastation, the endless wildfire season, this summer’s flooding in the Midwest and Northeast, extreme heat across the country—climate pollution puts our weather on steroids. And that puts our lives, our children’s lives, our homes, and our communities in danger.
All together these are scary reminders that our votes on November 5 will determine how climate and children’s health will be addressed by our policymakers.
