According to a Reuters poll released last week, a majority of Americans – Republicans and Democrats – say they want the U.S. to take “aggressive” action to stop climate change.
Parents across the country are demanding climate action right now, which is why Moms Clean Air Force is in Miami as 20 Democrats take center stage for two nights of presidential debates.
Moms are climate voters. As we watch the debates, our members want to know that the climate crisis is a top line issue. We are listening for each candidate’s thoughtful commitment to tackling carbon and methane emissions. We want to know how each candidate plans to get us to a fossil-fuel free, 100% Clean Energy Economy by 2050. Vague promises to do something will not suffice. Climate white papers and ideas in a silo are inadequate. We want to know that a candidate recognizes the urgency, and has a thorough, well-articulated plan to lead America to Climate Safety—and reclaim global leadership during this time of crisis.
To get us to climate safety, 100% means:
- No climate pollution from the way we generate electricity.
- No climate pollution from the trucks and cars we use.
- No climate pollution from the buildings we live and work in.
- No climate pollution from the way we farm.
We face a defining decade. Our children will spend the rest of their lives dealing with the consequences of what we decide in 2020.
Moms are watching.
