WHAT: Duke University’s Heat Policy Innovation Hub Director, Ashley Ward, will sit down with Moms Clean Air Force to speak with parents and caregivers about how to protect maternal health in extreme heat. Pregnant people face unique health risks during extreme heat events, from dehydration and heat exhaustion to more serious pregnancy complications. This webinar will cover why heat is a concern during pregnancy, how to reduce personal risk, and what signs warrant medical attention. The participants will also discuss how current policies—at all levels of government—support or fall short in protecting maternal health in extreme heat and how advocates can work toward change.
Register HERE. There will be time for questions at the end of the program.
This webinar is the second installment in a three-part series about the dangers of extreme heat. The next conversation will center around extreme heat and planning at the community level (date TBD).
