WHAT: Duke University’s Heat Policy Innovation Hub Director, Ashley Ward, will sit down with Moms Clean Air Force to speak with parents and caregivers about how to protect kids from extreme heat this summer. As temperatures rise, outdoor activities like sports and summer camps put kids at increased risk of health complications from the heat. Ashley Ward will give guidance on how to recognize warning signs of heat-related illness, how to understand safety protocols for high school athletics and other organizations, and how to advocate for safer practices in your community. The conversation will also explore how federal, state, and local policies shape youth safety standards and how parents can push for stronger protections.
Register HERE. There will be time for questions at the end of the program.
This webinar is the first installment in a three-part series about the dangers of extreme heat. The next conversation delves into pregnancy and heat, and the third covers how to develop a heat action plan (dates TBD).
