Fossil fuel power plants are responsible for a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S.—a significant contributor to global heating, which in turn means supercharged extreme weather.
This latest rollback is egregious given the devastating weather disasters we’ve seen, yet again, this summer. August was the hottest month ever recorded. Let that sink in. Please. Families suffered through heat-related illnesses, smothering wildfire smoke, and catastrophic flooding in Texas just a year after the Camp Mystic floods.
Time and again, Zeldin has corrupted his agency’s mission to protect human health and the environment. And we are paying the price.
