Concrete Dreams at DC Arts Center

May 20, 2021 - May 23, 2021

Concrete Dreams is a temporary public art project featuring an installation and livestream of community-sourced poetry on saris, mini movable sculptures, and projections. The project is a collaboration of three DC artist-activists: Monica Jahan Bose, filmmaker Robin Bell, and Maps Glover. They worked with residents of DC and Katakhali Village, Bangladesh, Bose’s ancestral village, to create an installation that grapples with the theme of the pandemic and the intersection of climate, racial, gender, and economic injustice. The installation is sponsored by the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities, DCAC, WE ACT Radio, MOAPIA, Moms Clean Air Force, and Project Create DC.
