Air pollution is killing people, and we need strong pollution protections ASAP. For over a decade, Moms Clean Air Force has been working to ensure EPA passes the strongest possible standards for air and climate pollution to protect our families’ health.
EPA is the agency with the power to limit air pollution. Right now, EPA is considering several standards that will have a big impact on the air our children breathe — but it is dragging its feet on publishing proposals and finalizing strong rules.
Two years ago, President Biden ordered EPA to set new standards for methane, particle pollution, mercury, ozone, and tailpipe pollution from cars and trucks, to name just a few. But we haven’t seen nearly enough forward momentum, and the clock is ticking.
- Every day of delay means more toxic pollution spewed into our air.
- Every day of delay means more asthma attacks, heart attacks, and strokes.
- Every day of delay means more cancer diagnoses and premature deaths — many of which can be prevented with swift action.
Air pollution is a leading cause of death worldwide, responsible for more than 8 million deaths each year. Air pollution can cause heart attacks, stroke, cancer, asthma, low birth weight, premature birth, and other serious health problems.
The climate investments in the Inflation Reduction Act will go a long way toward ensuring a brighter future for our children. But climate investments are not the same as national health-based standards. We continue to need strong, comprehensive air and climate standards from EPA.
It is time to act. Please tell EPA to move swiftly to finalize strong, comprehensive air and climate protections.
