The science is settled. Global warming is real, and it’s happening now. Yet Trump’s Department of Energy (DOE) secretly convened a working group of known climate deniers to write a report meant to sabotage longstanding climate science, with total disregard for the real harms that climate change is causing for millions of people.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright handpicked five well-known and debunked climate skeptics for his “Climate Working Group,” which was formed in April but not disclosed until their report was made public late last month.
This group produced a widely disparaged document that is being used to justify the administration’s efforts to rescind the Endangerment Finding, the legal and scientific foundation for commonsense emission standards to reduce climate pollution and protect people from deadly floods, heat waves, wildfires, and other hazards supercharged by climate change.
The report is loaded with inaccurate data and fundamental misrepresentations of the research it cites. It is intended to manipulate public opinion and sow unwarranted mistrust about the overwhelming consensus among climate scientists that greenhouse gas pollution from cars, trucks, power plants, industry, and other sources have unequivocally caused global warming and that emissions reductions would reduce climate harm.
This corrupted report, written in complete secrecy by unqualified scientists—and the Trump EPA’s use of it to undermine pollution protections—is not only a violation of federal law. It puts all our families in harm’s way.
This is not the time to remain silent. Make the time today to demand transparent climate policy decisions based on the best available science.
