
As 2025 came to a close, the state of Colorado passed new rules to protect families from landfill methane pollution. This is a meaningful win for climate and public health—landfills are the third-largest sources of methane emissions from human activities.
Tell Congress: Hold Zeldin Accountable for Corrupting EPA’s Mission
Colorado Field Organizer Laurie Anderson (pictured) is part of the state coalition that advocated for these safeguards. When they passed, she told the Colorado Sun, it was a step toward “the clean air and safe climate our children deserve.” Laurie also wrote an op-ed published in the Colorado Sun about why the new rules are important but should still be paired with initiatives to reduce food waste, a major source of methane generated in landfills.
