Moms were proud to share the stage with leading environmental health experts and advocates earlier this month at our inaugural Climate Disruption, Air Pollution, and Young People’s Health event in Washington, DC. Exclusively live-streamed by Parents, the event included conversations with EPA Administrator Michael Regan and Chelsea Clinton and two panel discussions focused on the challenges and solutions surrounding climate change and children.
- National Field Manager Liz Hurtado speaks to ABC News about the “mompartisan” message behind the event. Liz says that air pollution “really does impact everyone”—it’s not about politics.
- But the impacts of air pollution are not distributed evenly. Black, Brown, and low-income communities face disproportionate harms. In an interview from the Moms event, Chelsea Clinton tells Good Morning America that this inequity is part of the reason why we must ensure that everyone has a seat at the table when we talk about how to tackle air and climate pollution.
- The event came one day after EPA strengthened its soot pollution protections, The Guardian reports. Administrator Regan called the new standards a “game-changer” during his remarks at the Moms event the following day.
