It is destructive to our children’s bodies: At oil and gas operations, methane is released along with volatile organic compounds and other toxic chemicals linked to cancers, worsened birth outcomes, central nervous system toxicity, and other devastating diseases.
It is destructive to our heating planet: Methane is an astonishingly powerful climate pollutant trapping heat much more quickly than carbon dioxide. Cutting methane would go a very long way toward getting our increasingly chaotic climate under control.
It is destructive to our safety and security: People in the U.S. are suffering from the increasingly intense extreme weather unleashed as our planet warms even faster than scientists predicted; warming is directly linked to methane and carbon pollution.
