If you’re reading this, you officially made it through 100 days of the second Trump administration’s relentless attacks on human health and our planet. Congratulations.
Having trouble keeping up with the firehose of rollbacks and confusion? We’ve got you covered with this new timeline of events, and Moms’ Director and Co-Founder Dominique Browning sums it up perfectly in a statement to press: “During every single week of President Trump’s first 100 days, he has introduced stupefying levels of chaos, economic insecurity, and heartache. His agenda is all about destructiveness, not constructiveness.”
With help from EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, the Trump administration has wasted no time trying to cripple the Clean Air Act, shirk responsibility for global warming, and dismantle mercury protections that safeguard the developing brains of babies and children. “As Zeldin and President Trump look to make emissions great again, all Moms see is a MEGA mess… This is an EPA that is working with the oil and gas and coal industries to apply for a Trump ‘Free Pass to Pollute’—literally an invitation to the most dangerously polluting facilities to apply via email for exemptions from pollution protections,” says Dominique.
Tell Administrator Zeldin: Cutting Climate Pollution Is One of EPA’s Most Important Jobs
This administration has mastered the art of distraction by holding public attention on a scapegoat issue all while actually working to undo real progress. “While President Trump grasps at paper straws, his EPA Administrator talks a slick game about tackling dangerous, toxic chemicals, like endocrine disrupting chemicals that alter people’s hormone systems,” says Dominique. “But in fact, Zeldin is moving to reverse state bans on PFAS, the poisonous forever chemicals that cause cancer, heart disease, fertility problems.”
The same goes for the administration’s approach to the economy. Trump claims he will usher in a golden age of economic prosperity, but Dominique points out his promises don’t add up when he is also failing to address the global warming that is “putting our weather on steroids,” while “extreme storms are endangering our health, our homes, our children’s futures—and costing people in the U.S. countless billions of dollars in rebuilding, insurance, and health care.”
Moms will keep fighting for policies that protect our children’s health and safety. As Dominique says: “We do not want to return to the days of climate denial, the days of giving up on clean air, the days of pretending chemicals in the stuff we use every single day won’t harm or even kill us. But that’s the path President Trump has put us on during his first 100 days.”
