WASHINGTON, DC (February 11, 2020) – Today, lead sponsor Senator Tom Carper (D-DE) introduced the Clean Economy Act. This legislation commits the U.S. to achieving net zero climate pollution and is consistent with recommendations from the scientific community as to what is needed to avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis.
In response to this bill introduction, Dominique Browning, Co-founder and Senior Director of Moms Clean Air Force, issued the following statement:
“Moms want to put an end to climate pollution now and protect our children from the grave threat of the climate crisis. This is why we support the Senate’s Clean Economy Act, which gets us on a path to zero climate pollution. The plan prioritizes public health, spurs economic growth, supports workers and frontline communities, and helps turn the tide on climate change.
“Our more than one million members nationwide want bold climate action that will protect the health and future of our children, grandchildren, and future generations. The Clean Economy Act is a major step toward addressing this crisis, and it brings us closer to climate safety. We applaud all bold and comprehensive visions for attacking the mother of all pollution problems!”
