Juneteenth marks a date of major significance in American history and shows us that freedom and racial equality have always been a hard-fought battle for Black Americans—and that battle continues to this day.
In honor of Juneteenth, Moms Clean Air Force has recommitted to the principles of equity, equality, and justice. This includes the right for racial justice, which goes hand in hand with environmental justice.
Almeta Cooper, our National Manager for Health Equity, worked with Dr. Tonya Calhoun—former National Field Manager for Moms Clean Air Force and current Senior Manager for Community Engagement at the Environmental Defense Fund—to bring together a diverse group of voices to share what Juneteenth means to them.
