Green Bay, WI — Join Moms Clean Air Force for a free screening of Single-Use Planet at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens on Tuesday, August 12.
The 59-minute investigative film is narrated by Peter Coyote and highlights the connection between public health, plastic production, and industry influence on government policy.
The film begins with a partially animated exploration of the essential uses of plastic and the flood of single-use items into the ocean. Single-Use Planet then heads to Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and Washington D.C. to track plastic’s journey from creation to pollution – noting legislative restrictions, industry power and environmental injustice implications.
The film closes by juxtaposing America’s plastic industry to that of France, questioning why Europe has been able to successfully decrease plastic pollution but we have not.
Moms Clean Air Force, a community of more than 1.5 million moms, dads, and caregivers working against air pollution to protect their children’s health, is sponsoring this screening of Single-Use Planet.
“Made from a combination of chemicals and fossil fuels, plastic pollutes at every stage of its life cycle,” says Moms Clean Air Force’s Wisconsin Field Organizer Jayne Black, who is hosting the screening. “Plastic’s production and disposal are massive contributors to environmental injustice and global warming. Stopping production and use of single use plastic is one of the most impactful things we could do to help our planet and provide cleaner air for our kids to breathe.”
Admission is free, and registering online also includes free tickets into the garden and the Art to Save the Sea Exhibit, open until 8pm. Reservations and additional information is available at Mobilize.US
