Washington, DC – Today, the Senate voted 66 to 34 to confirm Michael Regan as Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator.
In response to this vote, Dominique Browning, Director and Co-Founder of Moms Clean Air Force, issued the following statement:
“Moms Clean Air Force heartily applauds the confirmation of Michael Regan to head the Environmental Protection Agency. That the Senate gave its strong bipartisan approval for Regan to lead only heightens this celebratory moment. Regan will return the agency to its vital mission of protecting human health and the environment.
“Michael Regan’s testimony during his confirmation hearing last month highlighted many areas that gave us renewed hope. Regan affirmed he will embrace a ‘whole-of-government’ approach to tackling climate change by working across different agencies and the White House. Regan also expressed a firm commitment to pursuing environmental justice, calling it an issue ‘near and dear’ to his heart. We are with you, Administrator Regan, on both counts and will work tirelessly to uphold these necessary commitments.
“With Regan’s confirmation secured, we now call on the full Senate to swiftly confirm all nominees who will form our country’s formidable climate team. Their work could not be more urgent or more important—let’s put them all to work immediately. Meanwhile, we stand ready, as advocates, to work with Regan at the helm of a revitalized EPA and help it deliver on its promise of cleaner air, cleaner water, and a safer climate—for everyone.”
