WHAT: Join Moms Clean Air Force and partners as we celebrate the clean air investments that the Inflation Reduction Act has brought to Georgia. The historic Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) was signed into law on August 16, 2022, allowing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to expand its grant program for community air monitoring. As a result, EPA is distributing a total of $53.4 million to 132 air monitoring projects across the nation. One of these grants has been awarded to Atlanta’s Center for Sustainable Communities, which will use their nearly $500,000 in funding to deploy air sensors in 11 communities in south Atlanta, Georgia, where the health of residents is threatened by major sources of tailpipe pollution.
Event cosponsors include Moms Clean Air Force, Center for Sustainable Communities, Climate Action Campaign, The Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments, Georgia Interfaith Power and Light, and Poder Latinx.
