Washington, DC – As Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg heads to Georgia to tout President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, the Environmental Defense Fund and Moms Clean Air Force have spokespeople available for interviews to discuss the visit, and how the President’s agenda as well significant investments in clean energy and clean transportation from Congress would mean for communities in Georgia from an environmental, health and economic perspective.
Available for interview is:
- Heather McTeer Toney, Climate Justice Liaison for the Environmental Defense Fund. Previously Heather served as Regional Administrator for Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Southeast Region, which includes Georgia, under President Obama from 2014-2017. Heather holds a bachelor’s degree from Spelman College and a law degree from the Tulane University School of Law.
- Almeta Cooper, Georgia State Coordinator, Moms Clean Air Force. Almeta’s work on clean air and climate justice issues for Moms Clean Air Force is a natural progression of her 30-year career as an executive, attorney, and advocate for organizations focused on health care, health equity, and women and girls. Almeta has a Bachelor’s degree from Wells College and a law degree from Northwestern University.
As of 2019, there were 83,806 Georgians working in clean energy and the Peach State is rapidly becoming a hotspot for electric vehicle manufacturing including batteries.
With continued investments, like those that are part of the President’s Build Back Better agenda, the clean transportation and energy sectors will continue to grow. These investments will lead to millions of jobs and create more equitable and thriving communities in Georgia.
