Moms Clean Air Force (Moms) is a community of over 1.6 million moms, dads, and caregivers working together to combat air pollution, including the urgent crisis of our changing climate. We provide our members with reliable information and solutions through online resources, articles, action tools, and on-the-ground organizing.
We are seeking a highly motivated part-time Field Consultant based in Los Angeles County who is dedicated to building a program across California to engage moms and families on issues of clean air and climate change.
This remote part-time contract position will be dedicated to executing an issue-based campaign to:
Develop a strong network of volunteers and partners to support and grow Moms Clean Air Force’s mission in California
- Build and support a diverse network of parents, caregivers, and stakeholders in Los Angeles County and the state—to advocate for clean air and climate solutions at the state and federal level.
- Support volunteers in sharing their stories of how pollution and climate change impact their families.
- Represent Moms Clean Air Force in coalition meetings and campaigns building strong collaborative relationships with partner groups.
- Advocate for clean air and climate justice in Black, Latino, Asian, Indigenous, and other communities of color.
Engage with decision makers on clean air and climate change solutions
- Cultivate relationships with elected officials, agencies, and decision makers—positioning Moms Clean Air Force as a trusted resource and partner on clean air and climate issues.
- Recruit and mobilize volunteers to engage with elected officials and agencies while providing comments during key points.
Increase the visibility of Moms Clean Air Force
- Utilize digital platforms, media, and events to generate support for clean air and climate change solutions.
- Educate and present at public meetings, events, town halls, schools, and parenting events to raise awareness of the organization and our issues.
- Act as a spokesperson for the organization.
Provide periodic reports through weekly conference calls, monthly and quarterly written reports, and other communications as needed
Qualifications include:
- Strong commitment to clean air, climate action, environmental justice, and Indigenous sovereignty.
- Basic understanding of California’s environmental issues and policy landscape.
- Political or community engagement experience preferred.
- Familiarity working with digital advocacy tools and social media.
- Self-motivated, innovative, with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well organized, detail-oriented, goal-driven, and able to prioritize and manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency, inclusivity, and ability to work with others across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends.
- Must reside in Los Angeles County and have access to a vehicle.
- Bilingual or multilingual a plus
Compensation: $3,500 per month plus expenses.
