Introducing Baby Power!

BY ON February 23, 2018

One day, a friend of Moms Clean Air Force, Tory Vallely, called with an idea. How about organizing a campaign specifically for mothers-to-be and brand new mothers — harnessing some of that just-born, fiercely protective maternal instinct? After all, babies certainly rock our worlds — and they have the power to make us change the world!

The birth of my grandchild a year ago has inspired me to redouble my commitment to doing everything I can to tackle climate pollution — and to protect those sacred clean air rules already on the book, and fast being undone by the current destructive EPA agenda.

That’s why we’re launching a brand new campaign called Baby Power – because every baby has the power to make us change the world.

We hope you will take a moment to look at our materials. I’m especially excited about our resource on Little Lungs, and how they work, and why they cry out for clean air. But we also help new mothers become Naptime Activists, while their babies sleep (fast enough to get a nap for mom, too.) In the coming months, we will add more information about why clean air matters for pregnant mothers as well as tiny babies’ brains and hearts.

We cannot take our right to clean air for granted — that much is now clear. For decades, there’s been bipartisan support for strong clean air protections. That is sorely lacking today, but we aim to get it back. We’re busy organizing house parties full of Baby Power around the country. We’ll be attending Mommy Cons and Prego Expos around the country, where thousands of mothers gather to get information and products.

We have to fight for clean air for our babies, because if we don’t, no one else will. Sometimes, being a good parent means being an engaged citizen. Make sure you have the tools you need to protect little lungs!

There are so many ways to get involved, from adding Baby Power to your baby shower or taking action on threats to the air your baby breathes to learning more about the impacts of air pollution on your baby’s lungs.

Every baby has the power to make us change the world — we look forward to changing it with you.
