EcoMadres for EVs: EcoMadre Danielle Berkowitz-Sklar attended a second anniversary of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill convening alongside Senators Chuck Schumer, Catherine Cortez Masto, Tom Carper, Debbie Stabenow, John Hickenlooper, and Maggie Hassan to recognize the positive impact of electric school buses on the climate and economy. EcoMadre and electric school bus driver Carmen Cortez was mentioned in the keynote remarks by Moms Clean Air Force National Manager of Health Equity Almeta Cooper.
EcoCharla with EcoMadres: In this month’s climate chat with EcoMadres Director Isabel González Whitaker, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto discussed her roots in environmentalism and the importance of supporting clean transportation legislation. Watch the full interview.
EcoMadres and EPA: EcoMadre Liz Hurtado joined EPA’s Community, Equity, and Resiliency Virtual Open House panel where expert panelists shared their insights about how to ensure that the benefits of electric vehicle infrastructure are accessible to all, including communities that have historically been marginalized. EcoMadres Against Chemical Recycling: Moms Clean Air Force and EcoMadres met with Congressman Darren Soto (FL-9) to discuss our concerns with the plastics industry promoting incineration as “advanced recycling” in an attempt to evade pollution regulation. Upcoming EcoMadres meetings include Congresswoman Nanette Barragán (CA-44) and Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9).

In this piece, she explains why the Inflation Reduction Act is an opportunity to improve the health of Latino families.
“The Propane Industry’s Weird Obsession With School Buses, Explained”: EcoMadre Carmen Cortez, a school bus driver for Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland, was featured in this Vox piece sharing her observations that electric school buses are a meaningful way to improve the health of riders, drivers, and the community.
