Scientists have known for decades that greenhouse gas emissions from burning fossil fuels create a blanket of pollution that overheats our planet, supercharging extreme weather. We’re seeing this right now in a deluge of summertime climate chaos—deadly flash flooding, heat waves, and wildfires—touching families across the country.
That’s why it’s so egregious that the Trump administration is trying to stop EPA’s ability to limit climate pollution. Trump’s EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin has announced a proposal to do just that—and Moms are outraged and speaking out! Join us.
Tell Administrator Zeldin: Cutting Climate Pollution Is Essential for Our Families’ Health
Zeldin’s proposal would rescind the Endangerment Finding, the legal and scientific foundation of EPA’s responsibility to limit greenhouse gas pollution. The proposal also calls for eliminating all limits on climate pollution from vehicle tailpipes, which are one of the largest sources of planet-heating emissions in the U.S.
Zeldin is on a POLLUTION SPREE, trying to roll back 15 years of progress toward cleaning up climate pollution—progress that people across the political spectrum strongly support. If successful, EPA’s proposal to rescind the Endangerment Finding would mean more days when it’s too hot for children to safely play outside, more lung-damaging wildfire smoke, and more families displaced by catastrophic floods and hurricanes.
For my family in Vermont, it will mean more alerts for flooding, extreme heat, and wildfire smoke—all alerts we’ve seen in the past few weeks alone in a region historically known for beautiful summers.
It’ll mean more time spent checking for ticks, which thrive more easily in a warmer climate. My daughter has contracted Lyme disease twice in the past year, and every time my children play outside, we worry about ticks—something I don’t remember ever doing in my childhood. Global warming is making summers more dangerous and fraught with anxiety.
It is reckless, immoral, and unthinkable that EPA would attempt to weaken climate pollution protections at a moment like this—all so that wealthy, well-connected insiders can benefit. We cannot let this happen.
