Raise the Green Bar conference, a yearly sustainability summit co-hosted by MADE SAFE (my organization) and GOOD HOUSEKEEPING is usually held at the LEED Platinum Hearst building in New York City. This year the event went virtual with hundreds of registrants gathering to hear conversations about the ways businesses, innovators, scientists, investors, activists and NGOs are working toward more sustainable practices and solutions for this planet we all call home.
The day started with a focus on the future of health with pediatrician Dr. Leo Trasande breaking down the role that endocrine active chemicals play in our health and well-being and how we can begin to address the necessary changes by avoiding certain harmful chemicals. He preaches that prevention is the cure.
Wallace J Nichols, PhD Marine biologist, crusader for caring for our waterways, self-declared turtle nerd, and author of BLUE MIND closed the event on a sobering note. Dr. Nichols appeared on camera as a clearly shaken scientist with a message for us all: “Climate Change is not a forecast. We all need to respond to that reality now… And to be resilient.”
Please watch this important climate discussion with Dr. Nichols, as he knows that prevention is the cure and there is no time to wait to take action on climate change.
