There’s bad legislation in the House of Representatives, and we need you to contact your member of Congress today.
Bad actors in Congress have introduced a bill to prevent EPA from implementing strong safeguards on tailpipe emissions from cars and light trucks. These emissions are heating up our climate and contributing to a variety of health harms, including asthma, heart disease, cancer, low birth weight, and premature birth.
A vote could happen as early as tomorrow. We need to act fast.
This summer, Moms gathered thousands of comments for EPA from members like you in support of tailpipe pollution protections. The protections would ensure that cars and light trucks manufactured in 2027 and beyond emit less climate and air pollution. They would protect children from air pollution, reduce childhood asthma and cancer, and help to fight climate change.
Fossil fuels lobbyists and car manufacturers tried to delay this rule, but EPA turned them down. Now Congress is trying to do this work for them by introducing H.R. 4468. The description of the bill is “to prevent the EPA Administrator from finalizing, implementing, or enforcing [the rule].” That’s the whole purpose of the bill, and it’s a waste of time.
It’s outrageous and desperate. And yet, the House is expected to vote on the bill tomorrow! We need you to contact your Representative today and urge them to vote no on H.R. 4468. Send a message to Congress right now.
