Isabel González Whitaker’s son has always had allergies, but this year was different. Isabel, Moms’ Associate Vice President and Director of EcoMadres, tells the Daily Mail that this spring was “marked by a persistent cough” that turned into terrifying asthma attacks. After multiple trips to urgent care, Isabel was left wondering: Why?
Isabel suspects that Elon Musk’s new xAI facility a few miles from her house in Memphis may be part of the problem. As she writes in an op-ed for the Commercial Appeal, this massive data center—which powers Grok on X—is operating dozens of gas turbines without pollution controls. The Southern Environment Law Center estimates that these turbines are emitting thousands of tons of pollution that is linked to asthma attacks.
