WASHINGTON, DC– The Trump administration today warned more than 1,000 Environmental Protection Agency employees that they could be fired at any time. This announcement comes as Russell Vought moves toward confirmation as head of the Office of Management and Budget.
In response, Moms Clean Air Force Director & Co-Founder Dominique Browning released the following statement:
“This is what Russ Vought meant when he said he wanted to put government workers ‘in trauma.’ This wholesale firing method is just about the worst way to go about streamlining any organization much less EPA, where there are many employees with decades of invaluable experience and knowledge. And it sends a terrible signal to a new generation of environmental leadership, to young people considering careers in public service. This is yet another example of the reckless, dangerous, and expensive agenda in DC right now. Reckless, because it is sloppy management. Dangerous, because air pollution and global warming kill people. Expensive, because WE will pay in higher health care costs, and the agency will end up paying more down the road to rebuild its expertise and authority, once this disastrous regime is gone.”
