Jayne Black is the Moms Clean Air Force field organizer in De Pere, Wisconsin. She is the founder of Green Schools Rock, a program that supports schools to be green and trains youth to be green leaders. She is a certified green classroom professional and mentor.
An avid volunteer, Jayne serves as Chair of the City of De Pere’s Sustainability Commission and works with the American Lung Association to promote their indoor air quality campaign for schools. She is a Green Schools Mentor with Illinois Green Alliance and a spokesperson and ambassador for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
A former Pre-K teacher, Jayne is mom to a daughter with multiple sclerosis and a son with asthma. She sees the impact of climate change and poor air quality on her children daily. This inspired her to help pass the first indoor air quality bill for schools in Wisconsin. She is fighting for transparency and accountability regarding indoor air quality monitoring and testing to protect children’s health.
Jayne believes that caregivers should use our voices to create positive change in our communities and that finding solutions to climate disruption requires the involvement of more women leaders. Our stories as parents can inspire action at the local, state, and national levels.
Jayne and her family enjoy traveling, hiking, supporting local musicians, and spending time surrounded by the water at their second home in Door County. Jayne’s work has been featured in The Capital Times, WisPolitics, Vital Signs, Clean Wisconsin, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Post-Crescent, Spectrum News 1, WisBusiness, and Local 5 Live.
