WHAT: Join Moms Clean Air Force and EDF Action for a virtual roundtable and press conference with recipients of the EPA’s ARP Enhanced Air Quality Monitoring grants. With funding from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and the American Rescue Plan (ARP), the EPA was able to award $53.4 million to fund 132 projects in 37 states. This program targets underserved communities whose environmental and health disparities have been exacerbated by the pandemic and increase in air pollution.

This virtual roundtable with Michigan grant recipients from the Green Door Initiative and Asthma and Allergy Foundation will highlight the importance of air monitoring systems. It also aims to raise public awareness of the EPA’s ARP Enhanced Air Quality Monitoring grant program to support communities in monitoring their air quality.

WHO: Speakers at the press conference will include:

  • Elizabeth Hauptman (event emcee), Michigan Field Organizer, Moms Clean Air Force
  • Kathleen Slonager, RN, AE-C, CCH, Executive Director, Asthma and Allergy Foundation, Michigan
  • Lyke Thompson, Director, Academic Center for Urban Studies, Wayne State University
  • Keith Kiama, Program Manager, Air Quality Management Plan, Green Door Initiative

WHEN: Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 10 AM ET

WHERE: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/78984967901

Virtually via livestream to the Moms Clean Air Force Facebook page.
