Washington, D.C. (July 15, 2025) – With 7 million premature deaths each year due to air pollution and 99% of the world’s population breathing unsafe air, Moms Clean Air Force and EcoMadres are proud to be part of Lovexair’s “Clean Air, Healthy Lives” campaign to address this major threat to human health.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), exposure to polluted air is one of the most serious environmental threats to human health today. It is contributing to an increase in chronic respiratory diseases, heart disease, infections, and cancer. This disproportionately affects low-income communities and communities of color, which are more likely to be situated near highways, industrial areas, and petrochemical facilities. These findings call for immediate global action to reduce pollution, but they also underscore the need to give people tools to screen for respiratory illness early–especially in communities most impacted by toxic air.
That’s why Moms Clean Air Force and EcoMadres are among the more than 30 organizations backing Clean Air, Healthy Lives, a Lovexair-anchored campaign. Together, we will encourage individuals to complete the Check@ir questionnaire to better understand their lung health. Participants will receive an assessment to share with their doctor, which is meant to serve as the first step toward securing medical care if they need it. The campaign also aims to use the data from the questionnaire to create the first-ever Global Lung Health Map, a tool designed to reveal disparities in lung health and promote solutions and accountability at all levels, from local planning boards to international climate summits.
“Latino communities across the U.S. are disproportionately impacted by the climate and air pollution crisis. From toxic highway and industrial pollution, to the growing threats of wildfires worsened by global warming, our families, and especially our children, are suffering the consequences,” said Liz Hurtado, EcoMadres National Field Manager. “For this reason, we’re proud to join the ‘Clean Air, Healthy Lives’ campaign – to inform, mobilize, and empower our communities to take action and demand the clean air and healthy future our children deserve.”
“Air pollution is something that affects all of us, whether you have a diagnosed respiratory condition disease or not. We launched the Clean Air, Healthy Lives campaign: to inform people worldwide about how environmental risks are affecting their lung health, and to give them the tools to do something about it,” said Shane Fitch, CEO and Founder of the Lovexair Foundation. “Our online self-assessment tool, Check@ir, provides a personalized lung health report and guide to reducing pollution exposure in just three minutes. This data will help us create the first Global Lung Health Map, an interactive platform visualizing real-world lung health data across communities. We’re collaborating with communities, health authorities, and advocacy groups like Moms Clean Air Force to build a shared vision of cleaner air and healthier societies.”
The Global Lung Health Map is poised to be a powerful data tool that Moms Clean Air Force, EcoMadres, and other US-based organizations can use to advocate for policies that protect public health and launch the nation–and the world—into a cleaner energy, cleaner transportation future where our families can breathe easier.
