PHOENIX – Moms Clean Air Force and EcoMadres will host a community “cafecito” and inaugural summit on Extreme Weather Impacts on Latina Maternal and Children’s Health on Friday, October 25, from 9-12pm MST at the The Abbey on Monroe in Phoenix. The summit will feature health professionals, government officials, and environmental justice advocates examining the interconnections for the Latino community of extreme weather, maternal health, and children’s health.

Moms Clean Air Force and EcoMadres are dedicated to advancing safeguards that protect Latino communities from the impacts of extreme weather. Just last month, Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragán (D-44) introduced a House resolution that calls on Congress to acknowledge the danger that air pollution and extreme heat pose to maternal and infant health in the Latino community and implement measures that keep moms and babies healthy and safe. Moms and EcoMadres are proud to support this crucial step forward.

Members of the media who would like to attend in person may RSVP to Karen Ottoni at karen@communicationsshop.us. The event will be live-streamed on EcoMadres’s Instagram.

WHAT: Summit with panel discussions highlighting challenges and solutions addressing extreme weather’s impact on maternal health and children, including federal climate investments to improve the health and futures of Latino families.
