Albuquerque, NM –
WHAT: Rally to reinstate clean and green ordinance and call for no thicker plastic bags in retail stores
WHEN: Wednesday, May 26, 4:00pm-5:00pm
WHERE: Albuquerque Civic Plaza
WHO: NM Climate Justice, No Bags in Albuquerque Group, Moms Clean Air Force, Waste Less Life, Global Warming Express, New Mexicans Taking Action on Plastic Documentary, and community allies
WHY: We are asking Mayor Tim Keller to restore the plastic bag ban in Albuquerque, NM, including ALL plastic bags. We understand the suspension due to COVID-19 and respect his decision to keep our city safe. With Bernallio open at a Turquoise level, we cannot wait any longer! Stopping the pollution that plastics and microplastics are causing in our community must be a priority. These plastic bags and microplastics are poisoning our lands, rivers, and bodies.
As concerned moms, we first came together to organize around the Clean and Green Ordinance in 2019. Now we are once again ready to raise public awareness about plastic pollution, health, and protecting our air, land, water, and soils.
