Back-to-school is a time for fresh starts with new notebooks, bigger shoes… and cleaner school buses! With help from Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funding and EPA’s Clean School Bus Program, electric school buses are rolling into school districts across the nation and replacing their dirty diesel predecessors.
- Diesel school buses are dirty–diesel exhaust is a known human carcinogen that can trigger asthma attacks and interfere with learning.
- Electric school buses are clean–they don’t produce any tailpipe pollution, allowing kids (and parents) to breathe easier. Bus drivers benefit too, as EcoMadre and school bus driver Carmen Cortez explains in an op-ed published in La Opinión.
- Moms across the country are fighting hard to bring more electric school buses into their communities. Learn more about our efforts in WRAL, Fox 43, and Lehigh Valley News.
