Michigan Press Conference Calling for Electrified Transportation

On Friday, May 15, state Senator Stephanie Chang and State Representative Erin Byrnes will join public health advocates and community leaders for a press conference calling on Michigan’s Congressional Delegation to prioritize long-term, sustainable investments in electrified transportation. As Congress begins negotiating the next federal surface transportation reauthorization, the CHARGE coalition and local partners are urging leaders to build on the previous success of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to lower costs and clean up Detroit’s air.

Wayne County currently faces a public health crisis, receiving an “F” grade from the American Lung Association for ozone and particle pollution. Speakers will discuss how transitioning to electric trucks and buses can provide immediate relief to the thousands of residents suffering from respiratory issues.
