PA: Virtual Session: We Speak, They Listen: Shaping the Public Record

March 11
6:00 pm
- 8:00 pm EDT

The Shell Plastics Plant in Beaver County has a documented history of violations, excessive emissions, and broken promises. Now, as PA-DEP considers a new air permit, our community has another critical opportunity to shape the official record!

Join us virtually for We Speak, They Listen: Shaping the Public Record, a workshop series to help you prepare strong, strategic testimony and develop powerful questions for the upcoming permit hearing.**

This is a space to build confidence, clarify concerns, and ensure our voices are clear, grounded, and impossible to ignore. Whether you’ve testified before or this is your first time speaking publicly, we will meet you where you are! Public hearings aren’t just procedural boxes to check — the testimony we share becomes part of the record that regulators must consider. What we say — and what we ask — matters.

What You’ll Gain

  1. A clear understanding of what this Plan Approval Permit would allow
  2. Guidance on how public hearings work (oral testimony vs. written comments)
  3. Help identifying strategic, on-the-record questions to ask PA-DEP
  4. Support crafting a 2–3 minute testimony that reflects your lived experience
  5. Confidence to show up prepared and grounded

We’ll break down technical details in accessible language, flag major concerns, and make sure you know how to position your comments so they carry weight in the regulatory process.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who:

  1. Lives, works, or has family in Beaver County or surrounding communities
  2. Has experienced pollution impacts and wants those experiences documented
  3. Cares about clean air, public health, and corporate accountability

No technical expertise needed. Your lived experience is your expertise!
