EPA’s move is a corruption of the agency’s mission to protect human health

Atlanta, GA (February 12, 2026) — Georgia Lawmakers, Moms Clean Air Force, and local health advocates gathered on February 12 for a press conference to denounce the EPA’s unlawful decision to revoke the Endangerment Finding and clean vehicle standards. The Endangerment Finding provides the legal foundation for EPA regulations that protect people in the U.S. from some of the largest sources of climate pollution, including power plants and transportation. This repeal is an attempt to leave EPA powerless to limit the pollution that is heating up the planet and supercharging dangerous extreme weather.
Speakers outlined how this decision threatens the health of our families—especially our children—and drives up costs at a time when the prices of health care and insurance premiums are already soaring.

QUOTES FROM SPEAKERS:
Georgia Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock
“This decision is a direct threat to American jobs and American competitiveness. Repealing climate protections doesn’t just risk our air and our health, it hands our economic future to other countries who are racing ahead while Washington looks backwards. While this administration continues pulling the rug out from under workers to let polluting corporations thrive, I will continue fighting to protect our clean air, clean water, and clean jobs”
Georgia State Representative Eric Bell II, Georgia House District 75
“Protecting our children from air pollution and climate change is part of the American Dream — and it’s a dream every family deserves. I envision a safe and equitable future where every child breathes clean air, not poisoned air that leads to asthma, cancer, and lifelong chronic disease. Clean air should be a birthright, not a privilege.”
Rep. Kim Schofield, Georgia House District 63
“Can we afford to stand by and do nothing when the basic science is clear and our children’s health is on the line, policy must protect life — not profits. The Endangerment Finding doesn’t just classify pollution — it affirms our moral duty to safeguard every child’s breath, every family’s future, and every community’s right to thrive. Undermining that protection isn’t just bad policy — it’s a betrayal of the generations we are sworn to protect.”
Kiya Stanford, Georgia Field Organizer, Moms Clean Air Force
“Repealing the Endangerment Finding and rolling back climate pollution limits on vehicle tailpipes is a cruel and consequential decision. Zeldin calls it deregulation, but Moms Clean Air Force calls it destruction. Families are paying the price with our health, our wallets, and our futures, and people of color already face higher exposure to toxic airborne pollution. We need to mitigate this devastating reality so that stories like my brother’s and classmates’ aren’t replicated.”
Khadijah Ameen, Co-Founder and Director of Policy and Research, BLKHLTH
“Repealing the Endangerment Finding will worsen environmental and human health, with marginalized Georgia communities facing the greatest burden. As a public health organization committed to reducing preventable health risks in Black communities across the state, BLKHLTH strongly condemns any effort to weaken or eliminate critical protections against climate- and health-harming pollution.
Doctor Mehul Tejani, Healthy Air Champion for Mothers and Others for Clean Air
“This action to rescind the greenhouse gas endangerment finding will damage health, not protect it. It is the exact opposite of EPA’s mission which is to protect health. It is also directly opposite what physician groups like the AMA (American Medical Association) and others recommend, which is that we need to address climate change in order to protect health. Instead of saving money, this action will cost all billions in health care and disaster response.”
Amy Sharma, Executive Director, Science for Georgia
“The Endangerment Finding is based on a mountain of science evidence. Pollution, toxins, and severe weather are all harmful to human health. Turning our government away from evidence-based decision making is a mistake.”
