MICHIGAN MOMS TO THANK SENATOR STABENOW AND SENATOR LEVIN FOR BEING ON THEIR SIDE AND FIGHTING FOR KIDS HEALTH
WHAT:
Press Conference to speak out about the Inhofe CRA and to thank our Senators for their support of Michigan moms and children.
WHY:
The U.S. Senate is expected to vote next week on whether to overturn an Environmental Protection Agency rule that would reduce mercury and other pollution emitted from power plants by 90 percent starting in 2015. The rule is known as the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS).
PLEASE TELL CONGRESS TO SUPPORT CLEAN AIR
U.S. Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma has proposed overturning the rule through a procedural tactic known as the Congressional Review Act. Inhofe claims he has enough votes to bring his proposal to the floor.
Last week, three Michigan power plants were ranked as some of the worst mercury polluters in the Great Lakes region.
