Ylenia Aguilar is the Southwest Field Organizer for Moms Clean Air Force. She is an experienced consultant working on education, technology, housing, and environmental contracts. She is a passionate advocate for STEM and computer science education as matters of social justice.
Currently, Ylenia serves on the elected Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board and is a Trustee on the Vitalyst Health Foundation Board. Her interests span water, clean air, housing, education, and technology issues.
She made history as both the first Latina elected to her local school board, where she served for seven years, and the first Latina elected county-wide to the Central Arizona Project (CAP) Board. As a formerly undocumented immigrant, she voted for the first time in her election to the school board. Ylenia is committed to empowering underserved communities through policy change and expanding access to opportunity. Her work has been featured by Prensa Arizona, Prensa Arizona Live, Arizona Mirror, Conecta Arizona, Univision Arizona, Environmental Social Justice Podcast, Air Health Our Health podcast, Eco Poder Podcast, and the Arizona Republic.
Ylenia graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Latin American Studies. She is a mother of two boys, one in college and one in high school.
