On November 1, 2023, Congresswoman Tlaib (Michigan, D-12), local leaders, and clean air advocates sounded the alarm on the dangers of gas plants. The fossil fuel industry spends millions of dollars each year on lobbying and ad campaigns to convince the American public that they are a clean alternative for generating electricity. The reality is that they produce massive amounts of environmental pollutants like soot, smog, carbon, and mercury, which threaten the health of Michiganders. It is long overdue that the EPA update its standards for carbon pollution from power plants like Dearborn Industrial Generation. EPA must hold them accountable for the pollution they spew into the air and their impact on their communities and climate change.
