On May 3, 2022, Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller joined state and local elected officials and clean air advocates, including Moms Clean Air Force's Ana Rios, for a virtual press conference calling on New Mexico’s federal elected officials to support the strongest federal clean car standards from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to limit vehicle pollution. Speakers also urged Governor Lujan-Grisham to finalize the process of making New Mexico a “177 state,” which would mean the state would adopt even more aggressive standards than those at the federal level.
