On May 8, 2025, Maternal & Child Health in a Dangerous Climate: The Impact of Air Pollution, Plastics, & Heat on Women of Color convened policy experts, healthcare professionals, environmental advocates, and media voices to establish the current state of maternal health for women of color. Speakers discussed how multiplier threats like air pollution, extreme heat, and toxic chemicals in plastics negatively affect maternal and child health, and we learned from policy experts and lawmakers about actions we can take to mobilize community and change policy to protect mothers and children from air pollution, extreme heat, and toxic chemicals in plastics.
