Did you know that close to 2 million Latinos live within a half mile of existing oil and gas facilities? Or that Latinos are three times more likely to be negatively affected by air pollution?
Meet the women behind EcoMadres, a grassroots project of Moms Clean Air Force formed in 2018. Together, these leaders are organizing Latina moms to address key environmental issues affecting the health of Latino children and families who are disproportionately impacted by air pollution and exposure to toxic chemicals. These mothers are passionately and tirelessly pursing smart, timely solutions that will improve the health and well-being of their families.
On May 18, 2022, Carolina Peña, Karin Stein, and Yaritza Perez, three environmental champions at the forefront of this powerful green movement spoke with EDF's Monika von Hillebrandt about how their work to cut air pollution, slow climate change, and reduce exposure to toxic chemicals is inspiring individuals, communities, and lawmakers to take action.
