Air Pollution: Public Health Impacts and Solutions for Pennsylvanians

Video

email Email Linkfacebook Share on Facebooktwitter Share on Twitter

This online seminar from HealthFirstPA, a coalition of health care professionals, public health advocates, parents, and faith leaders, helps advocates understand the continuing risks of dirty air and other pollution while sharing how the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) supplies a much-needed solution for reducing power plant pollution.

Pennsylvania remains one of the most polluted states in the nation. This doesn’t just include Philadelphia and Pittsburgh but much of the mid-state as well. Unfortunately, most residents don’t know about the severe health threats from the combustion of fossil fuels and toxic leaks from oil and gas facilities. Smog and soot from transportation and power generation not only worsen asthma and cardiopulmonary health but can directly influence fetal and maternal health, including premature birth.
