Moms Clean Air Force hosted a virtual panel discussion about chemical recycling, also known as “advanced recycling.” Chemical “recycling” is, in fact, plastic incineration. Trash that enters chemical “recycling” facilities is not recycled–it is burned, and in the process, toxic pollution is pumped into the air we breathe.
During this conversation, panelists explained what chemical recycling really is, the associated health consequences, the environmental justice implications, and the potential impact of pending chemical recycling policy. Panelists also discussed the $1.1 billion dollar facility coming to Point Township, Pennsylvania, and how Pennsylvanians can take action.
