Washington, DC — Today, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed a two-year delay in implementation of tailpipe pollution protections for light- and medium-duty vehicles like passenger cars, trucks, and SUVs, a move that would harm the health of children and communities around the country.
In response, Moms Clean Air Force Director of Federal Policy, Melody Reis, released the following statement:
“It’s simple grade school arithmetic: delaying this rule equals more smog plus more tailpipe pollution in our neighborhoods and near our schools and playgrounds. That adds up to more asthma attacks and more illness. Nearly half of all children in the U.S. live in places where the air is unhealthy to breathe. Their families, and all of our families, deserve cleaner air. Instead, Trump’s EPA is giving industry another pass to pollute more. If President Trump and Administrator Zeldin are serious about protecting children’s health, they’ll stop putting the brakes on cleaner, more affordable vehicles and start holding polluters accountable.”
