WASHINGTON, DC– Timed to President Trump’s 100th day in office, Moms Clean Air Force has compiled a timeline of the administration’s attacks on human health and our planet. Moms Clean Air Force Director & Co-Founder Dominique Browning also released the following statement ahead of the milestone:
“During every single week of President Trump’s First 100 Days, he has introduced stupefying levels of chaos, economic insecurity, and heartache. His agenda is all about destructiveness, not constructiveness.
“Members of Moms Clean Air Force have been particularly focused on the work of Trump and his EPA administrator, Lee Zeldin, in their attempts to gut protections from the air and climate pollution that are putting us in extreme danger. As he and President Trump look to make emissions great again, all Moms see is a MEGA mess.
“Moms are pragmatic warriors. We want solutions to problems, not more problems. America has new technologies and clean energy sources that solve a lot of problems—and create jobs and help our economy grow stronger. We have carefully crafted safeguards against pollution. We know what must be done to protect our families. And we know that we are not going in the right direction under President Trump.
“Over the course of 100 days, Trump, Zeldin and others are actively and purposefully:
- Putting Americans’ health at grave risk—whether prenatal, youthful, adult or elderly
- Striving to gut key safeguards that protect our hearts and lungs from toxic air pollution
- Attempting to dismantle protections against mercury from coal plants, toxins that damage the developing brains of babies and children
- Trying to cripple the Clean Air Act
- Shirking all responsibility for cleaning up climate emissions that cause the global warming we are experiencing at the local level, all across the country.
“Global warming is putting our weather on steroids, and extreme storms are endangering our health, our homes, our children’s futures—and costing American countless billions of dollars in rebuilding, in insurance, and in health care.
“This is an EPA that is working with the oil and gas and coal industries to apply for a Trump ‘Free Pass to Pollute’—literally an invitation to the most dangerously polluting facilities to apply via email for exemptions from pollution protections.
“While President Trump grasps at paper straws, his EPA Administrator talks a slick game about tackling dangerous, toxic chemicals like endocrine disrupting chemicals that alter people’s hormone systems. But in fact, Zeldin is moving to reverse state bans on PFAS, the poisonous forever chemicals that cause cancer, heart disease, fertility problems.
“Zeldin has no plan to keep PFAS—or any other toxic chemicals– off the market and out of the stuff we use every single day—the water we drink, plastics, food packaging, clothing, personal care products and more.
“No mother wants to take her children back to the days when the air was too dirty to play outside. No mother wants to slather her baby’s body with lotions containing hormone disrupting chemicals. No mother wants to raise kids in a culture of chaos. We do not want to return to the days of climate denial, the days of giving up on clean air, the days of pretending chemicals in the stuff we use every single day won’t harm or even kill us.
“But that’s the path President Trump has put us on during his first 100 days.”
